Book Review: Eyewitness to Majesty: Abandoning Self for Christ—Peter by Mindy Ferguson
This is definitely a Bible study—a fill-in-the-blank Bible study. One thing I loved about it was that you actually really needed your Bible! You took your Bible, read a passage, then answered questions about it in the workbook. Then on top of that the author added her own insights into the passage and invariably there was something that I did not see for myself.
It felt like the author was taking me by the hand and leading me on a journey through the gospel of Mark pointing out the sites like a tour guide might do. It felt gentle, comforting and even delightful at times.
I found this book to be not only about Peter, but more like going through the gospel of Mark with more attention paid to Peter than other characters, except perhaps for Jesus.
I found the questions to not be “leading” questions. She allows you to come to your own conclusions.
It is designed to be done five days per week, with the fifth day as a review and application day. I found that to be helpful in order to help solidify what was previously studied that week.
If you love doing Bible studies where you actually need to read your own Bible check this one out! If you need a Bible study for a small group, check it out, too!
