God created you for…what?
God created you for…what?
There are several scriptures that talk about why God created us. Let’s look at a few.
The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Pro 16:4 KJV
First we see here that God made all things for Himself.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Rev 4:11 KJV
God made all things for His pleasure. See my previous post that explores this particular purpose: http://www.cherylcope.com/what-were-you-created-for
[Even] every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Isa 43:7 KJV
God created us for His glory.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph 2:10 KJV
God created us for good works—good works that He ordained (not ones of our own choosing!).
Putting it all together then, we were created by God for Him, for His glory, for His pleasure and for His good works.
This sure sounds like this is all about God and not about us!! So let’s stop thinking all about ourselves and instead think about God! Think about how we can please Him, how we can praise Him, how we can serve Him with good works, and how we can bring Him glory.
What are some ways that you can think of or ways that you’ve already been doing, that fit into those categories? Please share in the comment section below. Scroll down to almost the bottom and look for “leave a message” or “leave a reply”.

What a great perspective. When we take ourselves out of the equation, it all adds up to God!
It really is all about God, but somehow I need to keep being reminded of that fact!
It does sound all about God – but I also note that God wants to share his glory and pleasure with us.
“God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.” 1 tim.6:17;
“heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Rom.8:17
I also am discovering that the more I become like Christ the more of God’s joy and pleasure I experience.
Yesterday my 6 yr old granddaughter told me how she was “building a tree in her back yard” from sticks and leaves. she said, “I was playing with God’s nature” I said, “Yes, and you were created in the image of God and that means you were created to be ‘creative.'” To which she replied, “I was using God’s nature to play with God’s nature. I think God is pleased with me.” Me, “Oh, He is very much pleased!” How cute is that?
Yes, you are correct. I didn’t want to make a really long post and wanted to stick with my main points which were about the verses I found specifically on why God created us.
This is such a good reminder that we should focus on God and not ourselves. What always amazes me is that when I focus on God – I am the most at peace and filled with the greatest joy. Focusing on me never gives me peace or joy.
Yes, and I seem to keep needing to remind myself.
