A Deeper Kind of Calm by Linda Dillow
A Deeper Kind of Calm by Linda Dillow
I enjoyed reading this book very much. I found it to be refreshing, calming and comforting.
Linda Dillow takes the reader on a little journey through four Psalms and pulls out wonderful spiritual “gems” and shares them with the reader. There were quite a few of these hidden “gems” scattered throughout the book in unexpected places. The four Psalms were perfect for her goal of comforting and encouraging her readers.
Clearly this author has walked the path of disappointment before, and offers clear, strong hope for the weary. Woven throughout were glimpses into her own life to help illustrate her points and reassure the reader that she did understand what you, the reader, were going through.
If you are dealing with any trials of disappointment or discouragement (and who isn’t?) this book will be helpful to you. If you are going through a huge major crisis I wasn’t convinced that this book would be the amount of help that you need. It seemed best suited for mature Christian women handling small to medium-sized difficulties.
One other bright spot, however, was the bible study included in the back. Even though I did not completely utilize that feature it appeared to me that it would make a nice study for a small group and that you would gain much more from the book by doing so.
