Christian Video Review: Apostle Paul and the Earliest Churches
Christian Video Review: Apostle Paul and the Earliest Churches
This DVD is like a video tour of the archeological places that Paul went to, starting just after he was converted until his death. It is more like a documentary than like a drama or movie.
The archeological video footage and information are the biggest plus and strongest positive of this DVD. But it is not merely a video tour. It is entirely professionally narrated and has a very nice blend of history, archeology, maps and re-enactments of certain portions of Paul’s life. Another plus is that quite a lot of the sites shown in this video are in modern day Turkey which are not always included in video travel tours.
The DVD kept moving at a good pace and kept my interest throughout. Also useful is the pdf study guide with more information on Paul and study questions.
I didn’t notice any glaring mistakes in the chronology of Paul’s journeys but I also did not check it specifically against the Word either.
This DVD would be fantastic for Bible study either individually or in some type of group such as a Sunday School or a Life Group that was studying the life of Paul and specifically his travels. It contains very little doctrine so it would not be useful for that. And if you were looking for a drama or movie this is not the video for you.
