Christian, You Are Precious
Christian, You Are Precious
You are precious, not because your mother says so, not because your friends say so, not because your pastor says so.
God’s Word Says So
Scripture does not say that you are precious in that direct of a way, but nevertheless it does say that. Follow me here and you will see.
I Pet. 1:17-18 For asmuch as ye know that ye [believers in Christ] were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
You Were Redeemed
Redeemed means this: delivered from bondage, distress, penalty, liability, or from the possession of another, by paying an equivalent.
Did you catch that last part? By paying an equivalent. That means that you are equivalent to the thing that was used to purchase you back or redeem you.
What Was Used to Redeem You?
In the verses cited above, in verse 19, it clearly says you were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. You are equal to the payment that was used so that means that you are precious, too.
Precious means: of great price, of great worth, very valuable, priceless, exquisite, beloved, much esteemed, useful.
So you, Christian, are of great price, of great worth, very valuable, priceless, exquisite, beloved, much esteemed, and useful. You are worth way more than the picture of gold I have here. And it doesn’t matter if you feel precious or not, you are! Believe it!
