Getting Closer to God Series Part 4
Getting Closer to God Series Part 4
These have been the very basics so far. Stay with me. The next post will start getting into some very specific things to do as a help to get you closer to God.
Don’t wash up before stepping into the shower.
Some people think they need to “clean up” before they can come to God. God arranged for a complete cleansing through the blood of His son, Jesus. (see 1 John 1:7) This cleansing is ongoing for every day, every need. You can’t wash up before coming to God so stop trying. Go to God to get washed up. And come boldly while you’re at it.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb. 4:16 KJV
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Heb. 10:19 KJV
Once you go before God, THEN confess your sins if the Holy Spirit convicts you of some.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 KJV
The Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of convicting you of sin if the need is there so don’t go on a “witch hunt” within yourself looking for bad stuff.
The important thing is to get yourself before the throne and be in fellowship with God and let Him dictate the particulars of any cleaning up and even if it is necessary. (The enemy likes to load us up with false guilt.)
The access (liberty to approach) to our Heavenly Father is given to us by Jesus, His blood, and our faith in Him and His blood.
In whom [Christ Jesus] we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Eph. 3:12 KJV (see also Eph. 2:18)
Take advantage of this free and instant ACCESS to God and COME BOLDLY BEFORE HIS THRONE of grace, mercy and help.
Important note: Technically, if you are a born again Christian you already are close to God. The Holy Spirit is living inside of you. How much closer can He get? But there is a place of feeling closer and of getting to know God better. That is what these posts are really all about.
Please share one thing you are planning to do to get closer to God because of reading this post.
