God is Awesome

Yes, the Most High God is, indeed, awesome. But do you really know what that means?

Awesome means inspiring awe. So, what is “awe”? Awe is fear mingled with admiration or reverence, or reverential fear.

So, who deserves to be feared and revered more than the living God?

No one, of course. I believe God agrees with me. Look at these verses from scripture.

Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. Psalms 33:8 KJV

God seems to think that He is totally unique and that no one else is like Him.

…for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me. Isaiah 46:9 KJV

O.K., there you have it, God wants us to fear Him and stand in awe of Him and He insists that there is no one like Him. So, in other words, He is the only one worthy to be feared and awed. He is the only one who truly is awesome.

God is awesome and I have personally decided to reserve the use of that word, awesome, to God Himself. What word(s) have you reserved for God alone? Let me know in the comments below.
