Mark 4:35-40 (KJV)
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
There will be storms of all sorts that come into our lives at various times for different reasons. Some we will bring on ourselves due to disobedience and sowing bad seeds. Some will come to be a witness to someone else about the power of God. Some will come in order for people to be saved. Some will come with no warning at all. Some will come and we will be prepared for it. Some will come and we may never know why. Through it all we must not lose faith in the storms. Jesus said in His word “I will never leave nor forsake you.” Come what may we still have Jesus.
The disciples missed eight key words in verse 35. Did you get it? Jesus said, Let us pass over unto the other side. He already told them they were going to make it but He didn’t tell them what they had to go through to get there. I think I’ll say that one more time. He already told them they were going to make it but He didn’t tell them what they had to go through to get there. If you read the earlier part of chapter four, Jesus had already told them about the mustard seed faith. He had already prepared them right before the storm and all they had to do was exercise their faith. Like the disciples we too get blinded by our present circumstances that we forget that Jesus is still with us. They couldn’t drown and make it to the other side because that’s not what Jesus said. He said let us pass over unto the other side.
Don’t allow the storms of life make you lose faith. No matter how hard the enemy is attacking you hold on. No matter how many doors have been shut in your face hold on. No matter how much chaos the enemy is in your life right now hold on. Jesus is still with you. It may seem like He has turned a deaf ear to your prayers but don’t stop praying. He hears you. He sees every tear. He is always present. He won’t let you drown. Don’t allow your present circumstances lead you to permanent decisions. The storm is only temporary. Peace is on the way. Get an anchor in the word of God and stay there. Praise Him through your circumstances. Worship Him through your pain. Give Him all of you even when you think you can’t give anymore.
Your faith is the key that unlocks the door. Hold on until your change is come. Don’t let go. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Don’t throw in the towel. It’s only a test. He’s already prepared you to pass it. Greater is on the way! Trust in the Lord with all your might and lean not to your understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Don’t lose faith in the storms!
Faith Confession:
I declare that I shall not lose faith in the storm
I declare that I shall overcome every storm that comes my way
I declare that my faith shall bring peace in the midst of the storm
I declare that I am prepared to pass the test without having to repeat it
I shall not give up
I shall not give in
I declare that the victory is already won in my favor
My God shall get the glory out of this
