How Highly Does God Value His Own Word?
How Highly Does God Value His Own Word?
He magnifies [makes greater] His Word above His name.
…for thou hast magnified [made greater] thy word above all thy name. Ps. 138:2 KJV
Because God magnifies His Word greater than His name we must first look at what He thinks of His name.
What does God think about His name?
God thinks His name alone is excellent.
…the Lord: for his name alone is excellent… Ps. 148:13 KJV
If God thinks His Word is greater than His name then it follows that He thinks His Word is greater than excellent.
God thinks His name is holy.
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is holy… Is. 57:15 KJV
Following the same logic, God thinks that His Word is greater than holy.
God thinks His name is above every other name.
…and given Him [Jesus] a name that is above every name. Phil 2:9 KJV
Then God thinks that His Word is greater than every other name.
God thinks His name will endure forever.
Thy name, O Lord, endureth forever. Ps. 135:13 KJV
God thinks His Word will endure greater than forever.
This may have been a round about way to look at the value of God’s Word but it is my hope that you can see that God values His own Word very highly. If God does, so should we.
One of the best ways to look at God’s Word would be to imitate one way that David treated it. David’s heart stood in awe of God’s Word.
…my heart standeth in awe of thy word. Ps 119:161 KJV
Let’s be like David and stand in awe [reverential fear] of God’s Word.
