How Many Sins Has God Forgiven?
How Many Sins Has God Forgiven?
Jesus’ atonement that was accomplished on the cross was for the whole world.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world. 1John 2:2 KJV
Right now, we are just under 7 billion people living on planet earth and that is just right now. Billions of people have lived on this earth—ALL sinning as many as hundreds of thousands of times in their lifetimes (remember even thoughts can be sin!).
One billion is one thousand million and looks like this: 1,000,000,000.
May I suggest that the vastness of God’s forgiveness is immeasurable (too great to be measured) and innumerable (not able to be numbered)?
Let’s continue thinking like mathematicians though for a minute. If I wanted to put a mathematical word to the immeasurable and innumerable forgiveness of God, what could it be?
A googol is 1 followed by 100 zeros or 10 to the 100th power.
A googolplex is 1 followed by a googol of zeros or 10 to the googol power. That sounds immeasurable and innumerable to me!
Putting it all together then…God has forgiven more than a googolplex of sins.
Not only that, since Jesus suffered because of our sins (see verse below), then Jesus suffered all the pain and suffering of more than a googolplex of sins!!
Oh Praise Him! Is He not worthy?
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1Peter 3:18 KJV
