Praying Against the Enemy
Praying Against the Enemy
I use the Psalms regularly in my prayer times. Sometimes I use them in spiritual warfare praying. Some of the verses I use are what others call, imprecatory psalms.
Just to make sure I am not speaking evil against any human being, which would go against Jesus’ teachings in the New Testament to love your neighbor and bless your enemies, I, out loud, condition these specific prayers aiming them directly at the demonic or enemy spirits and not against any human beings.
Most of the scriptures, if you are clear who you are aiming them at, can be used almost verbatim from the Bible as written. I’ve included wording from more than one translation (from http://www.blueletterbible.org).
Pray these scriptures:
Psa 35:4-6, 26 KJV 4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. 5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. … 26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.
Psa 35:4-6, 26 NASB 4 Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; Let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me. 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, With the angel of the LORD driving them on. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery, With the angel of the LORD pursuing them. … 26 Let those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress; Let those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.
Psa 35:4-6, 26 NLT 4 Bring shame and disgrace on those trying to kill me; turn them back and humiliate those who want to harm me. 5 Blow them away like chaff in the wind–a wind sent by the angel of the LORD. 6 Make their path dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them. … 26 May those who rejoice at my troubles be humiliated and disgraced. May those who triumph over me be covered with shame and dishonor.
Psa 40:14-15 KJV 14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. 15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
Psa 40:14-15 NASB 14 Let those be ashamed and humiliated together Who seek my life to destroy it; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in my hurt. 15 Let those be appalled because of their shame Who say to me, “Aha, aha!”
Psa 40:14-15 NLT 14 May those who try to destroy me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace. 15 Let them be horrified by their shame, for they said, “Aha! We’ve got him now!”
Psa 70:2-3 KJV 2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. 3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
Psa 70:2-3 NASB 2 Let those be ashamed and humiliated Who seek my life; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in my hurt. 3 Let those be turned back because of their shame Who say, “Aha, aha!”
Psa 70:2-3 NLT 2 May those who try to kill me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace. 3 Let them be horrified by their shame, for they said, “Aha! We’ve got him now!”
Psa 71:13 KJV 13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
Psa 71:13 NASB 13 Let those who are adversaries of my soul be ashamed and consumed; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor, who seek to injure me.
Isa 71:13 NLT 13 Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me.
Psa 83:17 KJV 17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
Isa 83:17 NASB 17 Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, And let them be humiliated and perish,
Isa 83:17 NLT 17 Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Let them die in disgrace.
Psa 6:10 KJV 10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
Psa 6:10 NASB 10 All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed; They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.
Psa 6:10 NLT 10 May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame.
Psa 109:29 KJV 29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
Psa 109:29 NASB 29 Let my accusers be clothed with dishonor, And let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
Psa 109:29 NLT 29 May my accusers be clothed with disgrace; may their humiliation cover them like a cloak.
