Product Review: Foundations of Honor by Danny Silk
Product Review: Foundations of Honor by Danny Silk
This product consists of audios, videos and a study guide book and is designed for personal or group study over a period of ten weeks. I liked the versatility of having both audios and videos.
The topic and actual content is almost amazing. Treating people with honor does not always look like you thought it would. I think most people will learn new things about what honor actually is and how to cultivate it with this product.
Some of the topics about honor covered are, what honor actually is, having an abundance mindset, several sessions on handling conflict, leading others and exporting honor.
Mr. Silk is well qualified to speak on this subject, being a long-time leader at Bethel Church, which has been known for its culture of honor. He also carries a spirit of love, peace, and calm which is felt throughout the audios and videos.
From a technical standpoint the videos are done excellently. They are clear, well-lit, easy to hear etc. Most of the sessions are of Mr. Silk interviewing two of his hand-picked leader friends for a certain topic within the study of honor. There was a very good variety of people represented and a good mix of men and women although I would have liked to see more women as it was not 50/50. Mr. Silk does an excellent job at interviewing his guests. He seems to not only use premade questions but interacts with what the guest said with new questions based on what was said. He also has great rapport with all of his guests.
In a couple of places Mr. Silk gives good introductions to each new topic before he starts asking questions. Sometimes the introductions seem to be more for the benefit of the interviewees so in a few places a short summary of what he was about to teach on would have been helpful as well as a wrap up at the end with some points and specifics.
There is a study book that allows for deeper reflection and study. I wouldn’t skip using it since there was not a real concise summary at the end of each of the video sessions. If a group is studying with this, each person will need their own study guide book as it is designed to be written in.
The audios seem to be the audio portion from the videos so the content was just as good. The volume however was not consistent, something I did not notice with the videos. Also there was one more thing that could be improved in this series. Mr. Silk repeats words quite often, almost like a form of mild stuttering. It is very evident on the audios and not quite as noticeable on the videos. This reduced the amount of professionalism to the audios.
Overall I loved this product. If you are looking to learn how to truly honor other people, in any type of relationship, then this is for you.
