Split Pea Soup
Another hearty soup for the cooler fall and winter weather that is also inexpensive and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 2 c. dry split peas
- 2 T. minced onions
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. chopped carrots
- 12 c. chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 c. chopped broccoli
- 1/2 c. chopped cauliflower
- other seasonings to taste such as garlic, salt , pepper, parsley
Directions
Rinse peas. Add broth and peas to pot, cover, simmer 1 1/2 hours. Stir often. Add vegetables, cover and simmer 1/2 hour. Stir often. Add seasonings and simmer 10 more minutes. Remove from heat and serve.

This is perfect! I LOVE split pea soup but had no idea what was required to make it! Thanks for sharing!
It’s actually very easy to make, you just need to have a little bit of time but split peas are much faster to cook than ordinary beans. Thanks for commenting.
