Ways to “Spice” up Your Vegetables
Sometimes vegetables can taste bland, especially if you keep trying to eat the same ones over and over. First, I would recommend that you try some new vegetables. When was the last time you had eggplant, parsnips or mustard greens?
Following is a list of vegetables in alphabetical order with ideas to season them with spices, herbs or other extras such as cheese or nuts. A few of the entries will have an “&” sign and that means that those particular combinations taste good together for most people. Otherwise, be careful how you combine these ideas.
Asparagus: tarragon & basil, allspice, dill weed, marjoram, savory
Beans: onion & garlic
Beets: ginger, cinnamon, dill, caraway see, bay leaf, cloves, basil, savory, mint, nutmeg, orange peel, lemon peel
